HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Economic and Cultural Office (VECO) in Taipei, Taiwan, is coordinating with local agencies on the investigation into the shooting death of a Vietnamese citizen, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lê Thị Thu Hằng said on Thursday.

She was responding to reporters’ question about the death by gunshot of Nguyễn Quốc Phi, reportedly a migrant worker. She said Phi’s family had arrived in Taiwan and the Taipei-based office was coordinating with local agencies to assist the family in bringing the body home.

The VECO was informed of the incident on August  三 一 and i妹妹ediately asked local agencies to promptly investigate, Hằng noted, adding that the office would protect the rights and legitimate interests of the deceased. — VNS
